TinkerTool exposes macOS preferences that Apple doesn’t surface in System Settings โ animation speeds, Finder behaviors, Dock settings, font smoothing, screenshot options, and more. All changes are reversible, and it includes a ‘Reset’ function to return any category to defaults. Free, no installer, just run and tweak.

Categories
Finder (hidden files, icon sizes, list view defaults), Dock (position, bounce behavior, animation), Desktop (screenshot format, location), Fonts (antialiasing thresholds), General (scroll behavior, window animations), Apps (per-app tweaks).
Applying Changes
Many settings require a Finder or Dock restart to take effect. TinkerTool has a built-in ‘Relaunch Finder’ and ‘Relaunch Dock’ button โ use these after making changes rather than logging out.
Undo All
Each category has a ‘Reset to Defaults’ button. The main Reset page lets you restore all TinkerTool changes at once, useful before an OS upgrade.
